About Us

Summa Semiconductor Oy is a fully independent company providing semiconductor manufacturing services since 2015. Our operations are based in Micronova, a key center of Finland’s national research infrastructure for micro- and nanotechnology.

Management

Dr. (Tech) Meri Helle
25 years of experience in semiconductor technology sales and business.

Experience:

  • CEO: Summa Semiconductor.
  • Business development, sales and engineering: Okmetic Oyj.
  • R&D: Nokia Research Centre.
  • Research in quantum physics, material science.
Dr. (Tech) Sami Suihkonen
20 years expertise in semiconductor technology R&D and commercialization.

Experience:

  • COO/CFO: Summa Semiconductor.
  • Process development for III-N LEDs: OptoGaN Oy/GmbH.
  • 100+ publications on III-N materials and devices.
  • Several joint publications with two Nobel laureates.
PhD. Veli-Matti Airaksinen
40 years experience in semiconductor R&D, production and management.

Experience:

  • Development of epitaxial processes for InP, AlGaAs/GaAs and Si.
  • Developed epitaxial silicon products and production at Okmetic Oyj.
  • Director of Aalto Nanofab 2003 – 2013.
  • 50+ publications and patents on semiconductor materials.

Collaboration projects

METIS is bridging the skills gap in the microelectronics sector for a more competitive Europe. The Sector Skills Alliance, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, brings together a consortium of 19 key partners to develop skills intelligence deliver the METIS curriculum and training and promote microelectronics as a career choice.
METIS embodies excellence in microelectronics, with key partners representing industry (start-ups, SMEs, large firms), national and EU industry associations, formal educational providers and regulatory bodies in the field of accreditation and certification. The consortium is coordinated by SEMI Europe.
